The Retro Can Am2 / Sports Chassis from AB
The Retro Can Am2  / Sports Chassis  from AB
This Chassis kit is designed by Ralph Parker and fits the majority of the range of Fibreglass sports car bodies made by Betta & Classic and many hard plastic saloon and sports car kits from the 1960’s on through to the modern day.
Designed to be tough, easy to build and good handling, this chassis has everything the modern scratch builder could wish for.
This revised version of the Can-Am chassis features modified length pans and number of options for body mounting. Adjustable pan movement and guide lead + 2 width options for the build (46mm & 52mm) give this chassis great flexibility for use in many projects.
Suitable motors vary from Mabuchi S derivatives to Falcon and Proslot “scale” type motors.
Easy to assemble, the kit comes as a fret. Just trim the pieces & assemble!

Adjustable wheelbase is catered for by optional front axle location.

The chassis may be built either way up to give you the option of gears to the right or left, depending on which motor you install.

The pan section floats front and rear and also features lift in the rear.
Laser cut from our legendary CS80 spring steel, the design incorporates 4 recessed body mounting locations in the pans. Total design width is 46mm, which is ideal for most bodies in the range with “wrap around” sides.
The width may be increased by adding brass or steel strip to the side pans.
The guide plate is designed to accept normal, modern guide flags, but may easily be modified by bushing to accept smaller guide posts. The “Guide lead” may be adjusted by moving the guide plate between the front axle pillar blocks.
